The females usually lay 2 eggs three or four times a year. They start the oviposition in April and stop in September. Recently hatched animals are of black color with deep pink lines. They already show the typical color pattern of fully grown geckoes.
This Goniurosaurus species was discovered in Guoshanyao Village, Yingde in the Guandgong province in China in 2009. It was first described in 2010 and the scientific investigation showed that one had found a new species. It received the name 'Goniurosaurus yingdeensis' according to its place of origin. It probaby belongs to the Luii group due to its size, which is about 20 cm, and its slim body shape. The newly hatched animals are black/brown with thin white lines, which they will keep all their lifetime in contrast to other species belonging to the Luii group. The tail has many noticeable white rings, which is another feature of this particular species.

This species is the smallest representative of its genus and originally was found on the island of Tokuno. Female geckoes are approximately 14 cm, males are a little bit smaller. It has a very interesting color. Its basic color is black with pink lines on its body. This species sometimes varies in its color pattern, which is not the usual case.
When growing up, the pink lines slowly fade, but are still visible. The eyes are not as red as those of Goniurosaurus orientalis they even might be a bit orange.
MAINTENANCE / CARE IN CAPTIVITY:
The picture left shows an 8-month old G. splendens.
The picture on the right shows a 12-month old female G.splendens
TEMPERATURE :
The daytime temperature is between 26 ° C and 28 ° C at the hot spot and 24 ° C at the coldest point.
At night a temperature of 20 ° C to 22 ° C is recommended.
It is also recommended to "simulate" a winter for 4 months where the day will be expected temperature of 20 ° C to 22 ° C at night and 14 ° C to 16 ° C
HYGROMETRY :
The humidity is important, whether it should be between 50 to 70%. . We can add a fogger or a spray system with nozzles all on timer will ensure that the humidity will remain constant
"spraying A few minutes after the extinction of the lighting is very appreciated by the gecko" - ( Reptimagine )
A UV-B lamp is recommended.
LIGHTING / BRIGHT ROOM:
12-14 hours 8 months and then gradually descend lighting (eg 5min bearing with a programmer) to reach 10 to 12 hours to simulate a winter period.
JUVENILE TROUBLE:
It is best to keep juveniles in small "breeding-box" with the minimum necessary (a cave with a damp paper towel and some branches), so it can easily hunt.
DESCRIPTION :
This small gecko is nocturnal, shy and bright which makes the little handle. It feeds on small insects but occasionally accept small mealworm and bee moth.
The day will be holed up in a cave or a place where he feels safe. Once the lights off we discover a small gecko earth but who happens to be a very good climber and climber.
The coloring of the gecko makes it very interesting, because of its black pattern dotted with orange-reddish stripes and motifs as well as eyes with orange dominance but also a different pigmentation on her tail is black with white stripes and patterns. Some individuals have less orange color but rather pigmentation firing on pale pink.

SCIENTIFIC NAME: goniurosaurus splendens
NAME VERNACULAR: Gecko cave Japanese
FAMILY: Eublepharidae
GENRE: goniurosaurus
SPECIES: splendens
DISTRIBUTION: Archipel Nansei Japan
ORDER: Squamate
SUBORDER: Saurians
BIOLOGY: Ovipare, land
CITES /
Regulation (EC) No 338 / 97 /
adult size: 12cm to 14cm, average 13 cm
LONGEVITY:
Presumably this gecko dared to hope a life of about 10 to 12 years but we do not have the necessary perspective to this rule.
GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION:
This little gecko is endemic to Tokunoshima island which is one of the Nansei Islands in Japan.
HABITAT:
In nature, this gecko is always in the leaves halfway up the trees and the pretty humid corners of the canopy.
FOOD :
The power of this gecko is composed of small insects like crickets, but occasionally you may file a bowl with bee moth or mealworms (once every two to three months).
Regarding the crickets be careful not to give too large prey (the cricket should not exceed the length that exists between the two eyes of gecko). We offer two to three crickets per person, once a week crickets with calcium and vitamin D3 and twice a week just crickets.
The water dish will be renewed every two days to prevent the development of . bacteria
"We are also adding a weekly drops some calcium and vitamin D3 liquid in the bowl of water" - ( Reptimagine )
This species is not very difficult to maintain if one is careful to respect the temperature and especially humidity.
A terrarium of 50 x 40 x 50 (length x width x height) is ideal for two females and one male . Like many reptile species should never put two males together.
For the substrate coco peat mixed with pine bark is suitable for its habitat. You must then add several hideouts (cork trunk, bark, cave, coconut, ...) which permetterons him to flee. Putting a number of plants not only helps maintain a humidity but also to provide more hiding places and allow the gecko to feel safe.
Then you have to add platforms, branches and other media which allow him to climb.
REPRODUCTION:
The coupling start around March and the first arriving pundits around the month of arvil.
Females lay two eggs in general and they can lay 2 to 4 times per year. Usually the female lays near his shelter.
"We noticed that the females lay eggs prominently in the case of a white egg (not fertilized), they do not seek to bury to hide" - ( Reptimagine )
TRANSFERS:
Currently there are not really any real changes. Some geckos have eyes and / or particular patterns but nothing more.
LEGAL STATUS :
Currently this species is not protected.

This species originally lives on the island of Okinawa, Kouri-Shima and Sesoko in Japan. It becomes 16 cm and its body is very slim. Its iris is deep red. The color pattern can vary very much. The body is dark brown or black with a yellow or orange pattern. There are two main varieties of Goniurosaurus kuroiwae. The northern form shows a vertical line pattern (side to side), the southern variety has a horizontal pattern (head to tail). Of course, some exemplars are in between and you cannot tell to which variety they belong.

Recently hatched animals are black or dark brown with a red line pattern. In most cases, you can easily see to which variety they belong. But there are still some exceptions: Some young geckoes are dark brown with a yellow line pattern.
When growing up, they usually change their color. The red lining becomes orange and finally even turns into yellow. There are some animals which completely lose their pattern and their whole body becomes black or dark brown.
