Freshwater Aquarium Invertebrates :
Invertebrates, which represent more than 95% of the known species on Earth, are animals without backbones. Diverse, interesting, colorful, and unusual, invertebrates make great additions to your home aquarium.
Freshwater invertebrates are usually purchased for their ability to help keep an aquarium clean more than for their attractive appearance but fortunately many freshwater inverts are both great looking and work hard in the aquarium to reduce the amount of human maintenance needed. Blue, gold, and mystery snails as well as algae eating shrimp and other scavenging shrimp will all help to reduce the amount of maintenance needed. Some who keep freshwater invertebrates actually keep only those invertebrates in the tank, and no fish at all. Freshwater shrimp are a prime example of this.
